Margherita Dello Sbarba
Margherita Dello Sbarba (she/her) is een Italiaanse danskunstenaar, gevestigd in Brussel. Na een acteeropleiding in Milaan studeerde ze hedendaagse dans aan de Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Keulen. Ze werkt als freelance performer in België en Duitsland en ontwikkelt daarnaast haar eigen artistieke praktijk.
Haar werk vertrekt vanuit thema’s als veerkracht, empowerment en collectiviteit, met een bijzondere aandacht voor feministische narratieven. Ze onderzoekt onder meer hoe lichaam, ruimte en identiteit elkaar beïnvloeden, vaak in dialoog met andere disciplines zoals muziek, beeldende kunst en tekst. Recent creëerde ze A Small World in samenwerking met jazzmuzikanten.
Als danseres werkt ze samen met verschillende choreografen en gezelschappen. Haar artistieke traject wordt gedragen door een sterke interesse in samenwerking, onderzoek en verbeelding.

to tread the salty deep
to tread the salty deep is a solo performance unfolding between dance, text, and live music. Departing from the siren as a figure of othering, the work traces how the female body has been demonized, eroticized, contained — and how it resists.
Focusing on adolescence as a threshold, the piece enters a body newly visible, exposed to desire and danger, yet charged with untamed creative force. Vulnerability and power collide.
On stage, a long rope coils like a living creature beside a bass guitar. Sound is created live, shifting from rough and cutting to soft and tender. The body becomes a site of politics — of domination, domestication, and self-determination. Repetition hypnotizes. Voice and movement vibrates.
Developed in collaboration with writer Janina Diller, text and movement activate one another other in an unforgiving, tender descent into hybridity and becoming.
